musings on anniversaries and paintings

Happy Anniversary to Our Lady of the Lake. It is hard to believe that it has been a year now since our new church building was dedicated. At first I wasn't sure how I felt since our old church was so quaint, old, and homey. But...I quickly realized that it was really Christ and the people who made it truly feel like home. We had a speaker tonight to mark the celebration. Monsignor Mc Sweeney spoke on the topic of peace and did an excellent job. I know I would never be able to do his talk justice in summary so suffice to say.. shalom says it all. I've truly been blessed with a wonderful parish family who is alive for Christ. While there I also got to see the awesome picture of the Annunciation Fr. John had brought over from his house for liturgy this morning. Some of us were pondering Mary Pondering the message of the angel and he told us the tale of the picture and recounted his homily. It definetly hit a chord with me right now.

Last night I got to catch up with some of my friends who I haven't seen in forever. They had to make sure it was truly me in the flesh. I sure missed those ladies. Its amazing how people so seemingly different can bond in different ways. I cant' wait to see them for quilting and having more time to just chill and chat! And at the gathering we were at I was reminded of some of the truths that I had forgotten and taken for granted. I think those lessons could be summed up in Lead Me Lord and the Summons that we sang last night...(trust...)
