Community celebration and fun

It has been a busy couple of weeks here in community...celebrations..meetings...and fun..oh my!!! Last weekend we celebrated our Diamond Jubilarians. it was a beautiful celebration. We began the day with Liturgy and had a nice luncheon to celebrate with each of them. I thought I would share a reflection I wrote on the occasion with all of my readers.

Celebrating Life!

On Sunday July 13 we celebrated our Diamond Jubilarians who have been in community for 60 years. This year we had five very diverse women celebrating together.  Thinking of the journey each of these vibrant women had walked in community was humbling. As Sister Mary Ann White said so well; ”300 years, mama mia!” And in many ways that feeling is something that transcends each of our individual as well as our communal journies.  None of us can know exactly what it is in saying yes that our creator will ask us to do with our one, wild, life.  It is a consistent dance of yes, no, maybe; ultimately saying yes.
God can do amazing things with all of our diverse personalities.  To think that God’s spirit can bring them all together in community and create something wonderful is  also amazing!  Looking at each of our Jubilarians in their diversity was also a powerful reminder of the call to be authentically who we each have been created by God to be.  When we are most authentically ourselves; it is then that God can do the amazing work of weaving all together. Thus,  we are all still lace makers; weaving the thread of each of our lives together to create something beautiful.  And so I wait, watch, and pray as I continue seeking the ways the threads of my journey can interweave with those who have already begun the weaving.

Tonight we were blessed to be able to attend a Seawolves baseball game (our local minor league team for those not in know) courtesy of a supporter of the community. It was a evening of community fun. We ate...cheered....sang...some of us even danced...the Seawolves to a hard fought victory. We even got a visit from the Mascot! I wasn't quite sure how we rated that...but, took the opportunity for some fun and a picture.
