Well...the Holy Triduum is upon us. One of my favorite times of year. The act of feet washing always takes me back to my silent retreat in college when I first really came to experience God's great love for each of us. There's something about washing the feet of a total stranger. In my parish we have a tradition of using real bread on Holy Thursday. Which is also a take back to that time...we often used the real deal for Eucharist. There was something profound that happened as we all literally gathered around the table of the Lord together. I remember Fr. Mark having us gather round and sit on the floor as he spoke to us about the goodness of the Lord. And yes...it does sometimes taste like Stoufers lasagna.. :) But...one thing that has become increasingly important to me over the years is keeping watch with him after the liturgy of Holy Thursday. Before we had our new church building we would process with the Blessed Sacrament over to the church hall and have an area set up for adoration. Over the years it has become a profound time of healing, peace, grace, and learning.....about myself and about God's loving presence. As part of that procession we would always sing the hymn What wonderous love is this...a song that still touches me deeply no matter how many times I hear it or sing it...so...I wanted to share it with you all my bloggy friends...
