Catching up

Well....its back to reality after a fun weekend and week in VA. Over Labor Day weekend my sisters were home and we all went shopping for Holly's wedding dress. Our mission was a success!! She found a most beautiful gown. (sorry Ryan...no hints other than its beautiful!) I didn't think it was possible to look at so many dresses!!!!! We still need to go shopping for bridesmaid dresses sometime...it took so long for Holly to make her decision that we didn't have time to try any one. (There were too many gorgeous gowns to choose from.

Monday we headed off to VA. We had none other than Tom Petty for part of our road tripping music! That took all of us back...we used to always listen to him in the T-bird on our way to work at K-Mart. And it was fitting because I was in the back with the windows down...air blowing....aaaahh....yes, I should have been a dog in a former life! :)

We mostly just hung around their house. Wednesday we watched Glee, which is an awesome new show. I wish I had cable so I could watch it! Thursday we went to watch the Steelers game. I actually had fun and must to my dismay found that I was cheering!!!!!!! Who'd have thought it??? Since when does Kelly like the Steelers????? Who knows I guess. :)

Friday we went to a Piano bar. It was very cool....I knew most all of the songs they were playing and had a good time with Holly and Julie. I must say though, that it is a much different bear going out in DC than small town USA, which I am used to. We walked down by the National Harbor before heading back to their house.

Saturday Julie, Iason, and I met up with mom and dad near Altoona. We found lunch and our hotel. Then we went to the Lincoln Caverns. It is really neat seeing all the life that is underground. Beautiful really!!! We also went and walked around a small amusement park they had their. In my 'old' age I found that I am actually beginning to enjoy rides like the spider and a very speedy version of flying swings.... i've never been on a set of flying swings where it was going so fast that you couldn't catch a glimpse of anything really... Yesterday before heading home we had brunch and saw the Horseshoe Curve. It was rather neat seeing the variety of ages and people up there waiting for trains. There were a few I overheard actually talking about the old days of the railroad when they worked on 'em. They even know what goes through on what line. Me...I just know they're trains and can tell logos of say..Conrail... Then it was time to journey back home and bid aideu. And that was the week and weekend.

A couple of weekends ago we also had family fun with a surprise Luau for my Aunt Darlene to celebrate her turning the big 50. We had relatives from all over come in for the festivity so, it was fun to see aunts and uncles who I don't get to see very often as well as some who I do. Playing with the little ones was a blast. My sisters and I also helped decorate the party place to look like an Island get away, complete with beach music!
