Happy Easter everyone!!!! I hope everyone had a blessed and joyous Easter and that joy is continuing into the Easter season. My mom, dad, and I spent Easter in VA with my sisters. Friday we all just hung out around the house. Saturday morning we went to the American History Museum. I was excited to see the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. (those who know me well know the story of the slippers.) I also smiled to see the puffy shirt from Seinfeld. can we say arrr.. me matey! :) We went to Easter Vigil at St. Joes.....It was long!!! Even longer than I expected!!!! But....I enjoyed.....It was inspired to see so many young men looking at joining the Fransican community who joined the parish community for Vigil.
Wednesday we had our open house for the two new houses we rennovated into lodges. It was totally neat seeing how much pride the guys and gals took in their new homes. They are beautiful houses and hopefully will be able to help people both find housing and find theiry way to recovery for many...many....years to come. I am so proud of the guys and gals..they put a lot of 'sweat equity' into both the houses getting them ready for the contractors. Who'd have thought that pulling nails and rugs could be so much fun??????
This Friday I was blessed to hear Sr. Carol Zinn, SSJ speak to our sisters and associates....she has a way of inspiring you to action! We had a lesson on how the C/SSJ communities are organized and goverened around the world. And it is amazing that the sisters are still doing 'all the work that a woman is able to do' many years after Fr. Medialle and the first six sisters began in Le Puy. Of course serving the dear neighbor looks very different around the world since the needs are varied and many but, the mission still remains the same. She also spoke to us about the six virtues that are connected with the created and uncreated trinities. I think that may be worth its own posting though I can not even come close to Sr. Carol! Lets just say it left us all with much food for thought!
