How time has flown!!! It is hard to believe that Lent is already here. My parish had an awesome celebration that day. One of my favorite Priests was presiding as a visitor. I got reminded of an excellent acronym for Lent:
Lets
Eliminate
Negative
Thinking
For those who know me that says it all. It is definetly a good reminder that negative thinking gets us nowhere. While we may ocassionally be justified in feeling negative we really gain nothing by holding on to the negative. It was neat because this theme was also echoed at our retreat today in preperation for St.Josephs Day next month.
We had an awesome gathering of sisters and associates today for retreat. We spent the morning and early afternoon praying...sharing..reflecting...and eating. We had an awesome presenter in Sr. Nancy who spoke much about the Paschal cycle in our own lives. We examined how we need to risk little dyings to gain whatever it is that our loving father has for us next. Yes, these letting goes can be not fun and a bit messy at times, but they are always in the long run worth it. We just need to trust in his grace that we may let go.
For my bloggy readers who are avid book readers I have a reccomendation for an excellent read. My parish has a book club and this months book was The Shack. It is an awesome book that really gets you thinking. It follows the main character as he finds his way back to himself, God, and wholeness. There are many...many...many...golden nuggets in it. Not wanting to ruin the book for anyone I will leave it at that.
