Well....this was a busy weekend of work and other such items. Friday night I went to the CLC to pray with a group that I usually do. Things ended up changed just a bit...but, I must say they were for the good. I ended up walking and praying with just one of the group and went with her to visit one of the elder sisters in the home next door, which was good. :) I hadn't seen her in awhile so the visit was especially nice. Then we walked back over to the CLC and watched the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. (yeah!!!! ) Yesterday was our Global committee planning meeting. I think we have some good direction for the next year. One of my personal goals is to take more ownership and doing more to put my feet, actions, and money where my mind and mouth can be.
Today I was doubly blessed. Mass with my parish home community. We were especially blessed today though by the ministry of some of our high school students...some of whom graduated this year and we sent them off with our blessing. We have some really talented young people in the parish. One of our young men has the voice of an angel....I hope he sticks with music...you can tell that is where both his talent and passion lies. And we have some very excellent musicians...our organ was joined by guitar and violin. So..we had a nice mix of old and new and in between today. After Mass today was the beginning session of our Bible study, which was really good. A professor that I had in college is our teacher/presenter, which is super cool. i had her for Literature of the Bible in college and becuase it was a public university we could really only go surface deep into the scripture text though she also has a theology degree...so it is nice having the opportunity to be reminded and to go deeper. :)
I also found out that Marty Haugen is going to be presenting a retreat day at our parish in October. I am already getting psyched! :) I never figured that I would get to see him in person in concert. But...to have him in such a much more intament setting as a retreat time..wowsers!!!! But...I know it will be an awesome...though long day. The day wraps up with a song fest which doesn't end until 9 but..I have a hunch I probably wont' get out till later since I should probably be nice and help clean up...course that is getting a bit ahead of myself..by two months at that! but..it excites me to have a retreat opportunity that is so woven around music because music is one of the biggest ways that God gets through to me....its the language of my soul. One of my friends used to chide me that thats the only way he can get through, which isn't fact...but...it gets through much quicker in song. Perhaps because it touches a place so deep within that you don't have time to question and argue.....it just is.......At least thats what I find with music.
I've also taken to aqua areobics. There is just something that water does for the soul! :) Not to mention the good exercise does. It also helps that we have a pretty jovial crowd...so, it isn't too often that you leave without having had a good laugh...either at your own expense or because soemeone else cracked a joke or did something funny. One thing I have learned in this class is that somethings are definetly mind over matter. I have the balance of well....next to none usually. But...for soem reason I can balance myself on one foot in the pool standing on a noodle and swing my legs....all while remaining standing on it.
So...I guess in closing I will wish God's blessings upon each of you. And remember to take time each day to do something good for yourself! :) Let me know if you need a gentle reminder to not feel guilty about it!
